My research and scholarship

My scholarship focuses on individuals with intellectual disabilities, including Down syndrome, fragile X syndrome, and other causes of developmental and intellectual disability. I am the principal investigator for the Denver site of the NIH Cognitive Toolbox validation study, a multi-institutional project. My research also explores parent-child relationships, building on my dissertation on expressed emotion in mothers of children with fragile X syndrome. I utilize both quantitative and qualitative methods.

Additionally, my research examines how teams conduct play-based assessments for young children at risk for developmental delays, communicate results to families, and support children with social-emotional delays in inclusive settings.
